Rhaegar’s brother Viserys was born to Aerys Targaryen and Rhaella Targaryen.

Rhaegar married Elia Martell of Dorne.

A daughter, Rhaenys, was born to Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia of Dorne.

A son, Aegon, was born to Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia of Dorne.

Rhaegar attended the Tourney at Harrenhal. After defeating Ser Barristan Selmy, he shocked those present by crowning Lyanna Stark Queen of Love and Beauty rather than his wife Elia of Dorne.

Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark disappeared. The Starks and Robert Baratheon believed Rhaegar had abducted her.

Lyanna’s brother Brandon rode to Kings Landing to demand the return of his sister but he was imprisoned instead. Outraged Brandon’s father Rickard went to King’s Landing but was imprisoned and shortly after wards burnt alive with wildfire. Brandon was strangled.

Lyanna’s brother Ned Stark teamed up with Lyanna’s betrothed, Robert Baratheon, to overthrow the Targaryens in an event known as Robert’s Rebellion.

Rhaegar had his marriage to Elia of Dorne annulled by High Septon Maynard.

Rhaegar was secretly married to Lyanna Stark in Dorne.

Rhaegar’s son was born to Lyanna Stark at the Tower of Joy. Lyanna died shortly afterwards from complications during the birth. The child was placed in the care of Lyanna’s brother, Ned Stark, who promised to keep the child’s identity a secret by passing him off as his bastard, Jon Snow.
