Meghan and Harry announced that they would be stepping back from being senior royals. They will divide their time between the UK and the USA and will work to become financially independent. They will maintain their current patronages and will set up a new charitable foundation.
2020 (18th January)
It was officially announced that Meghan and Harry would step back from Royal duties and would not receive public funding. They would no longer use their HRH titles nor would they officially represent the Queen. Meghan and Harry also stated that they would repay the £2.4 million public money used to refurbish Frogmore Cottage.

Harry and Meghan announced that their second child would be born in the summer.

It was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan will not be returning as working members of the UK Royal Family.

An interview given by Meghan and Harry with Oprah Winfrey, was broadcast in the United States. It was broadcast in the UK the following day. In the interview a number of claims were made against the Royal Family.

A daughter, Lilibet (Lili) Diana was born to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in California.

Meghan and Harry were in the UK to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. They attended the service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.

Meghan and Harry arrived in London to attend a number of charity events over the following week.

Prince Harry became fifth in line to the throne after his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, died at Balmoral Castle. His father became King Charles III and his brother William became heir to the throne.
