Created by editor and plotter Stan Lee, scripter Don Rico, and artist Don Heck, the character of Black Widow debuted in Tales of Suspense #52 in 1964. She was introduced as a Russian spy and an antagonist of Iron Man but after defecting to the United States, she joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and became a member of the Avengers. 

Outside of comic books, Black Widow has featured in animated television shows, video games, and films. She first hit the big screen in 2010 in Iron Man 2 and went on to appear in other movies within the MCU, even after her demise in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
