Captain America Movies In Order Of Release

Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics, the star-spangled superhero first appeared in Captain America Comics #1, published on December 20, 1940.

Captain America soon became recognized as one of Marvel’s most popular heroes and was considered an American icon. Due to his success, he was the first superhero to step out of the comic book medium, making his first live-action appearance in a 1944 serial. He then featured in two poorly-received television movies in 1979 before headlining a dreadful movie in the early 90s that should have been frozen in ice.

In 2011, Captain America joined the MCU with Chris Evans in the lead role. Evans’s final big screen appearance as Cap was in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame but while he might have given up the shield, the character of Captain America will be back in 2024 with Anthony Mackie in the role.

Below, we list all of the Captain America movies that have been released thus far, as well as the other movies within the MCU where he has teamed up with the other Avengers.
