Originally published between 1950 and 1956, The Chronicles Of Narnia novels by British author C.S. Lewis have enchanted children and the young at heart ever since their initial release into bookstores.
The series, which is set in the fantastical world of Narnia, tells of the adventures of various children who set foot in this magical realm. Here, they meet many strange and wonderful creatures, from the brave and mighty Aslan the lion to the kind and friendly Mr. Tumnus the fawn who was once a servant to the evil White Witch.
Lewis’s novels tell traditional stories of good against evil but they are more than just simple fantasy tales. His books are also Christian allegories, the most recognizable of which is Aslan’s sacrificial death and subsequent resurrection which is representative of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Outside of the printed page, the Narnia stories have been adapted into television series, radio dramatizations, stage plays, and films. Netflix is reportedly making their own movies based on Lewis’s fantasy novels but at present, very little is known about casting or release dates.
