Olenna and Margaery met with Sansa Stark to try to discover what Joffrey was really like. Sansa told them that Joffrey was a monster.

Tyrion Lannister asked Lady Olenna Tyrell to discuss the financial burden of the forthcoming royal wedding. She agreed to meet half the costs.

Olenna Tyrell met with Tywin Lannister and they discussed a potential marriage between Loras Tyrell and Cersei Lannister.

Olenna helped Margaery to choose a necklace for her wedding day. Olenna disliked those offered and ordered her handmaidens to find the best necklace in the kingdom.

In order to protect her granddaughter, Olenna poisoned Joffrey Baratheon on his wedding day. It became known as the Purple Wedding after the colour that Joffrey’s face turned before he died.

Olenna told Margaery that she must make the new young king Tommen love her and marry her.

Olenna Tyrell left Kings Landing to return to Highgarden.

After hearing about Loras’ arrest by the Faith Militant, Olenna returned to Kings Landing. She tried to appeal to Cersei Lannister but without success.

Olenna attended Loras’s trial. Both Margaery and Loras denied Loras’s homosexuality but after Loras’s lover confirmed it both Loras and Margaery were arrested.

Olenna tried to appeal to the High Sparrow to secure the release Loras and Margaery but to no avail.

Petyr Baelish told Olenna that Cersei had an adulterous affair with Lancel. Olenna spoke to Lancel who had no choice but to admit the affair to the High Sparrow. Cersei was arrested.

Olenna Tyrell was given a place on the small council which angered Cersei.

Olenna, Cersei and Jaime hatched a plan to free Loras and Margaery. However, after Tommen allied the Crown and the Faith Militant the plan was unworkable.

Olenna visited Margaery, who had converted to the Faith, to try to persuade her to stand against the Faith. She believed that Margaery had truly been converted until Margaery gave her a folded note showing the House Tyrell sigil.

Olenna was full of disbelief after Cersei orchestrated the destruction of the Sept of Baelor which killed all inside including her son, Mace and two grandchildren Loras and Margaery. She declared war on the Crown.

Olenna Tyrell agreed an alliance with Dorne.

Lady Olenna was present at a meeting on Dragonstone with Daenerys Targaryen. She did not agree with Tyrion’s idea to bring the Dornish army to Kings Landing.

Olenna returned to Highgarden. She was there when it was attacked and subdued by the Lannisters.

Lady Olenna Tyrell was sitting in her chamber. Jaime Lannister found her and they discussed her imminent death. Jaime gave her a glass of poisoned wine to drink. After she drank the wine she warned Jaime about Cersei before revealing that it was she that had poisoned Joffrey.
