1982 (21st June)
Prince William, Prince of Wales was born William Arthur Philip Louis to Prince Charles and Diana at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, London. He was second in line to the throne.
1982 (4th August)
William was baptised in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie.
1983 (March)
Prince Charles and Diana made a six week tour of Australia and New Zealand. They took the young prince William with them.
1984 (15th September)
William’s brother, Henry Charles Albert David, known as Harry, was born to Prince Charles and Lady Diana.
1985 (during)
Prince William attended Mrs Mynor’s Nursery school.
1987 (September)
William began his primary education at Wetherby Prep School, Kensington, London.
1990 (September)
William attended Ludgrove School, Berkshire.
1991 (1st March)

William’s mother, Lady Diana Spencer, was killed in a car crash in Paris. William and his brother Harry were told the news at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Prince William and his brother Harry walked in procession behind their mother’s coffin with Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Earl Spencer. After a service at Westminster Abbey she was buried on an island at the Althorpe family estate.

Prince William made a statement criticising the BBC following publication of the Dyson Report which revealed that deceit had been used by Martin Bashir to obtain the famous interview with his mother Diana. He stated that the interview soured the relationship of his parents and increased Diana’s isolation and paranoia.
2022 (10th May)
Queen Elizabeth II was unable to attend the state opening of Parliament due to mobility issues. William attended as a support to his father, Charles, Prince of Wales, who delivered the Queen’s speech.
2022 (2nd June)
A four-day programme of events to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee began with the Trooping of the Colour. William was present at all events and appeared with his mother and close family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

William became heir to the throne after his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, died at Balmoral Castle, Scotland. His father Charles became King Charles III.

King Charles III made his first public broadcast. During his speech he confirmed that William would become Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Earl of Chester and Duke of Rothesay.
