Stormzy was born Michael Ebenazer Omari Owuo Jr to Abigail Owuo in Croydon, London. He has two older sisters. Growing up he was known as Michael Omari.

Michael began rapping. This often led him into conflict with older rappers.
2004 (September)
Michael attended Stanley Technical School, South Norwood, Croydon. During his time at the school he gained a reputation as a ‘naughty boy’.
2006 (around)
Michael decided to use the pseudonym Stormzy.
2009 (Summer)
Michael gained 12 GCSEs.
2009 (Autumn)
Michael began studying for A levels but was dissatisfied and misbehaved. He was excluded after piling chairs on top of another student.

Stormzy took a job at Screwfix.
2011 (around)
Stormzy began an apprenticeship in engineering in Leamington Spa. However, he was not happy and wanted to make music so frequently took time off,

Having stopped attending his work placement, Stormzy left Leamington Spa and moved back to Croydon with his mother.

Stormzy released ‘168: The Mixtape’ as a free digital download.

Having gained significant attention for his YouTube videos, Stormzy released the EP ‘Not That Deep’.

Stormzy released the EP ‘Dreamers Disease’.

WickedSkengman 3 was released on YouTube.

Stormzy was awarded Best Grime Act at the award ceremony for Music of Black Origin (MOBOs).

Although still unsigned to a recording label, Stormzy appeared on the show ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ where he performed ‘Not That Deep’ from his EP.

Stormzy featured on the track ‘I’m Fine’ by Chip and Shalo.
2015 (during)
Stormzy began a relationship with presenter Maya Jama.
2015 (8th March)
The single ‘Know Me From’ was released. It reached number 49 in the UK charts.

The freestyle video ‘Shut Up’ was released.
2015 (10th September)
‘WickedSkengman 4’ was released as a single with ‘Shut up’ as the B side. It reached number 18 in the UK charts.
2015 (30th October)
Stormzy and Lethal Bizzle released the single ‘Dude’. It reached number 49 in the UK charts.
2015 (12th December)
Stormzy performed his song ‘Shut Up’ as boxer Anthony Joshua walked to the ring. The song became popular and reached number 8 in the UK charts.

Stormzy declared himself to be a supporter of the Labour Party and an admirer of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Stormzy was one of the Aritsts for Grenfell that released ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, a charity single, to raise money for victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. It reached number 1 in the UK charts.
